马来西亚VTA认证
马来西亚车辆型式批准称作VTA，只有通过VTA的车辆才能上牌注册。VTA的目的是确保车辆性质、尺寸、重量、参数等规格符合《1987道路运输法》、《道路运输规则》及其下属条令。
VTA的执行机构为国家型式批准委员会，国家型式批准委员会全权负责车辆型式批准，并保证车辆型式批准过程透明。国家型式批准委员会由JPJ总干事担任主席，成员包括马来西亚标准与工业研究所（SIRIM）、马来西亚道路安全研究所（MIROS）、国际贸易与工业部（MITI）、交通部（MOT）、马来西亚海关、计算机化车辆检查中心（PUSPAKOM）、环境部（JAS）、国内贸易、合作与消费部（KPDNKK）、马来西亚标准以及马来西亚汽车研究所（MAI）等政府和私人机构。
JPJ的职责是牵头实施世界车辆法规协调论坛（WP29）的相关要求，并根据WP29框架制定机动车安全政策、类型审批和协调马来西亚机动车法规；根据1987年《道路运输法》，按照WP29框架，进行车辆类型核准和车辆测试，以承认节能车（EEV）。
认证范围内的新车型必须完成由国家型式批准委员会审批、接受JPJ执行车辆检查，获得车辆型式批准（VTA），零部件必须完成零部件型式批准（CTA），方可进入马来西亚市场。

整车型式批准VTA
马来西亚全面采用 UNECE 汽车技术法规,采用国际通行的车辆型式批准制度,因此在车辆分类上,马来西亚与国际惯例一致。即车辆分类完全按照UNECE 法规和欧盟的整车型式批准框架技术指令2007/46/EC 进行划分和定义。
适用范围
- L类：L1/L2/L3/L4/L5/L6/L7（轻型两轮动力车；三轮轻便摩托车；两轮摩托车；带侧车的两轮摩托车；动力三轮车；轻型四轮车；重型四轮车）
- M类：M1/M2/M3（乘用车、客车）
- N类：N1/N2/N3（货车）
- O类：O1/O2/O3/O4 （挂车/半挂车）
